Russian Guardsmen defuse over 200 Lepestok anti-personnel mines in Zaporozhye Region

It is reported that these mines can be scattered remotely by launching rockets with cluster munitions

MOSCOW, August 26. /TASS/. The Russian Guard’s personnel defused over 200 Lepestok anti-personnel mines in the Zaporozhye Region, the Guard’s press office told TASS on Friday.

"The Russian Guardsmen uncovered and destroyed over 200 PFM-1S Lepestok high-explosive anti-personnel mines in the Zaporozhye Region. The radicals remotely mined a residential neighborhood in the settlement of Dneprovka by using the Uragan multiple launch rocket system. The mines could have inflicted irreparable damage on civilians," the statement says.

The Russian Guard’s field engineers and bomb technicians cleared the dangerous track of explosives using safety measures, it said.

The PFM-1 Lepestok is a Soviet pressure-type anti-personnel mine. These mines can be scattered remotely by launching rockets with cluster munitions. The mine’s casing is made of plastic in colors that make it extremely difficult to detect. The mines are extremely dangerous for civilians as their unusual shape makes it difficult to see a dangerous object.
