MOSCOW, May 16. /TASS/. Russia shall not fulfill the decisions the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) took following March 16, 2022, according to a draft law proposed by members of the upper and lower houses of Russian parliament.

"European Court of Human Rights resolutions that were passed following March 16, 2022, shall not be fulfilled in the Russian Federation", according to one of the versions of the document.

Russia’s Prosecutor General’s Office can until January 1, 2023, continue paying compensations under ECHR decisions, adopted before March 16, 2022, said Pavel Krasheninnikov, an author of the draft law and head of the State Duma Committee on State Building and Legislation.

"ECHR resolutions will no longer be grounds for revising Russian courts’ decisions," Krasheninnikov said, adding that related amendments were being made to Russian procedural law.

An additional mechanism "to ensure Russian citizens’ basic rights, freedoms and legitimate interests" will be established, according to the bill.
