The parties also discussed the implementation of the instructions given by the two countries’ leaders following a visit to Moscow by Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi on January 19-20, 2022

MOSCOW, March 30./TASS/. The foreign ministers of Russia and Iran, Sergey Lavrov and Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, focused at their meeting on Wednesday on the situation around the Joint Comprehensive Plan of action (JCPOA).

The top diplomats exchanged opinions "on key issues of the regional and global agenda, with an emphasis on the development of the situation in Ukraine and in Afghanistan," the Russian Foreign Ministry reported. "Specific attention was paid to the situation around the JCPOA on Iran’s nuclear program," it said following the talks, held on the sidelines of the third ministerial conference of Afghanistan's neighboring countries in China’s Tunxi.

The parties also discussed the implementation of the instructions given by the two countries’ leaders following a visit to Moscow by Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi on January 19-20, 2022. The top diplomats "confirmed mutual commitment to strengthening cooperation on all tracks, despite the illegitimate restrictions imposed against the Russian Federation and the Islamic Republic of Iran by some unfriendly countries," the ministry said. The top diplomats agreed to continue the regular dialogue on all issues of mutual interest, it added.

Lavrov arrived in China to participate in the third ministerial conference of Afghanistan's neighboring countries, which will be held on March 31. The Russian Foreign Ministry earlier reported that the top Russian diplomat will hold a series of negotiations with his foreign colleagues on March 30.
