Key official reveals how many Russians voted online so far

The remote electronic voting system will be applied in seven Russian regions

MOSCOW, September 17. /TASS/. Over 10% of the total number of Russians that filed applications have successfully voted online in Russia’s State Duma elections, the nation’s Deputy Minister of Digital Development Oleg Kachanov.

"On September 17, at 8:45 am over 10% of the total number of Russians that filed applications have successfully voted online," Kachanov said.

Remote electronic voting to Russian State Duma elections on a federal platform kicked off at 8 am in six regions: in Sevastopol, and in the Kursk, Murmansk, Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov and Yaroslavl regions. Online voting in Moscow is being carried out on its own platform.

The electronic voting system is based on blockchain technology, and voters are guaranteed ballot secrecy. The immutability of voting is also guaranteed.

The remote electronic voting system will be applied in seven regions of Russia: that is in Moscow, Sevastopol and the Murmansk, Kursk, Nizhny Novgorod, Yaroslavl, and Rostov Regions. More than 2.6 million people will take part in online voting.
