Russia strongly condemns terror attack at Baghdad’s Tayaran square - Foreign Ministry

According to Al Arabiya report, two suicide bombers detonated themselves after being detected by security service officers

MOSCOW, January 21. /TASS/. Russia condemns the terror attack at the Tayaran Square in Baghdad, Iraq, that left 32 people killed and over 110 people injured, Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement Thursday.

"We most decisively condemn this audacious terror raid, aimed at undermining security and stability in friendly Iraq. We are solidary with the Iraqi authorities and people in their fight against all displays of terrorism. We confirm the importance of activation of international efforts for efficient and uncompromising counteraction of this global threat, regardless of slogans that its adepts and benefactors use to cover themselves," the statement says.

The Ministry also expressed condolences to the victims’ families and wished speedy recovery to the injured.

On Thursday, two explosions rocked the market Tayaran square in Baghdad. According to Al Arabiya report, two suicide bombers detonated themselves after being detected by security service officers.

According to the report, the terrorists were Daesh sympathizers. It is possible that they had accomplices.
