Putin, Belarusian president confirm readiness to continue counterterrorism cooperation

Lukashenko "expressed confidence that the masterminds and perpetrators of the Crocus City Hall attack would face imminent punishment."

MOSCOW, March 23. /TASS/. President Vladimir Putin of Russia and Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus confirmed their readiness to maintain close cooperation in the fight against terrorism in a phone call, the Kremlin press service said in a statement.

Putin briefed his Belarusian counterpart on the detention of the perpetrators of the Crocus City Hall attack.

"The parties confirmed their readiness to maintain close cooperation in the fight against terrorism," the statement reads.

Lukashenko "expressed confidence that the masterminds and perpetrators of the Crocus City Hall attack would face imminent punishment."

The terrorist attack took place at the Crocus City Hall in the town of Krasnogorsk outside Moscow late on March 22. Unidentified gunmen armed with automatic weapons went on a shooting spree. According to the latest data from Russia’s Investigative Committee, 115 people were killed but that number may grow. Federal Security Service (FSB) Director Alexander Bortnikov has announced the detention of 11 people involved in the attack, including four perpetrators who had tried to escape towards the Ukrainian border.
