MOSCOW, April 17. /TASS/. A rescuer was shot dead in the city of Odintsovo in the Moscow region, a source in the local law enforcement agencies told TASS on Sunday.
"A man shot dead a rescuer who was trying to open the door to a flat in Odintsovo," the source said, adding that the shooter continued firing from the window.
The emergencies ministry’s Moscow region department neither confirmed not refuted these reports.
The local police department said that man who shot dead a rescuer has been detained. "Moscow region police have detained a man suspected of committing a grave crime in Odintsovo, Moscow region," the police said.
"According to investigators, a rescuer rang the doorbell of a flat in an apartment block in Odintsovo to get inside to help an industrial climber who was hanging outside the building on a rope. But the flat owner shot a gun through the door and fatally wounded the rescuer," Olga Vradiy, a spokeswoman for the Russian Investigative Committee’s Moscow region department, told TASS, adding that a criminal case was opened against the shooter.
According to a source in the law enforcement agencies, the 80-year-old shooter had no weapons license and used an improvised gun. The man reportedly in follow-up by a psychiatrist.
