Acid cloud from Rubezhnoye not threatening Russia’s Belgorod region — emergencies ministry

Earlier it was reported that retreating from Rubezhnoye Ukrainian troops blew up tanks with presumably nitric acid

BELGOROD, April 5. /TASS/. An acid cloud, which emerged after the explosion of presumably nitric acid tanks in the city of Rubezhnoye in the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR), will not reach Russia’s Belgorod region, the Russian emergencies ministry’s Belgorod region department said on Tuesday.

"The city of Rubezhnoye is located some 100 kilometers of the nearest settlement in the Belgorod region. None out of all types of acids that might have been stored at this plant, will be able to reach the Belgorod region in an acid cloud. Acids dissolve in the atmosphere to a concentration posing no hazards to humans," it said, adding that the cloud’s extent radius does not exceed 30 kilometers.

According to earlier reports, retreating from Rubezhnoye Ukrainian troops blew up tanks with presumably nitric acid. A photo posted on LPR Lieutenant Colonel Andrey Marochko’s Telegram channel features a brick-red cloud after the explosion. He wrote that the explosion was timed to take into account the winds that are now blowing toward the settlement of Kudryashovka, which is controlled by the LPR forces.
