Metals consumption in Russia fell by 18% in 2024-2025 — Severstal CEO

The Russian metallurgical sector has been traditionally export-oriented, Alexander Shevelev noted

MOSCOW, February 12. /TASS/. The consumption of metals in Russia plunged by 18% in total in 2024-2025, Severstal CEO Alexander Shevelev said in an interview with "12" television.

"The demand for rolled steel, metals consumption in Russia fell by almost 14% as of the end of 2025. It dropped by 4% in 2024, by 14% in 2025, that is, by 18% in total. This is a very huge dip," Shevelev said.

The Russian metallurgical sector has been traditionally export-oriented, the chief executive added.
