Russian Railways to decide on regular runs of Beijing-Moscow train after pilot trip

According to Russian Railways, the train consists of twelve railcars produced in China that were not in service on Russian railways earlier

MOSCOW, March 3. /TASS/. The international passenger train en route Beijing - Ulaanbaatar - Moscow has started its pilot trip and the decision on regular trips will be made in its conclusion, Russian Railways told TASS.

"The pilot trip of the international passenger train No. 3/4 Beijing - Moscow en route Beijing - Ulaanbaatar - Moscow and back is being performed at present (from February 25 to March 11, 2025) in accordance with agreements reached among the Russian Railways, the China Railway and the Ulaanbaatar Railway," Russian Railways said.

According to Russian Railways, the train consists of twelve railcars produced in China that were not in service on Russian railways earlier: six sleepers, two two-berth sleepers, one administration railcar, one baggage car and two power plant cars.

"The train is accompanied by technical specialists from the Chinese side and the Russian side. The decision will be made according to the pilot trip results regarding the possibility of operation of this rolling stock on the Russian Railways infrastructure and regular trips of train No. 3/4 Beijing - Moscow," the railway operator said.

Earlier reports said that Russia would resume the passenger rail service with China and North Korea after the suspension in 2020.
