Investments from friendly countries to Russia increased significantly — Putin

"It is impossible to close off these channels because this is related to the economic interest," the president said

MOSCOW, December 4. /TASS/. Friendly countries have significantly increased investments in the Russian economy, which is driven by exclusively economic interests, President Vladimir Putin said at the 15th VTB Russia Calling! Investment Forum.

"Investments from friendly countries are growing. I will not talk numbers now but they have increased materially, significantly. It is impossible to close off these channels because this is related to the economic interest. This is not done because of political considerations," the president said.

"Russia has practically adapted to this situation," Putin said, answering the question of a businessman from India about how Russia would adapt to the outflow of the Western capital from the country.

"Yes, the outflow of foreign investments was obvious; you invited attention to it now, that is true. Nevertheless, firstly, we have fixed capital investments rising," the head of state sad. "In particular, this is because new brands are being created. We support our domestic producers. This was probably unexpected for those introducing certain restrictions in the sphere of economic cooperation," Putin added.
