Kazakhstan to resume agreement on duty-free supplies of petroleum products from Russia

The explanatory note says that the agreement itself expired on January 1, 2024, and it is planned to be extended until January 1, 2028

ASTANA, November 21. /TASS/. Kazakhstan’s government plans to resume the agreement with Russia on trade and economic cooperation in the area of supplies of oil and petroleum products to the republic dated December 9, 2010, according to a draft decree by the republic’s cabinet released on a state portal for public discussion.

The agreement stipulates "the possibility of import of Russian petroleum products on conditions of duty-free supplies," according to accompanying documents. The explanatory note says that the agreement itself expired on January 1, 2024, and it is planned to be extended until January 1, 2028. It is suggested that the protocol on resumption of the agreement will take force on the date of expiration, January 1 of this year.

"Within the indicative balance between energy ministries of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation the possibility of import in 2024 is suggested: of 285,000 tons of motor gasoline, 300,000 tons of aviation gasoline, 450,000 tons of diesel fuel, 500,000 tons of bitumen in peak consumption period (if necessary)," according to the accompanying release.
