MOSCOW, November 17. /TASS/. Gazprom supplies gas for Europe through Ukraine in the volume of 42.4 mln cubic meters (mcm) per day to the Sudzha gas pumping station in Russia’s Kursk Region, a Gazprom representative told reporters, adding that the request for pumping through the Sokhranovka gas station had been rejected by the Ukrainian side.
"Gazprom supplies Russian gas for transit through Ukrainian territory in the volume confirmed by the Ukrainian side via the Sudzha gas pumping station of 42.4 mln cubic meters as of November 17. The request for the Sokhranovka gas pumping station has been rejected," he said.
On the previous day, the pumping also equaled 42.4 mln cubic meters.
Supplies remain in the previous volume despite statements on suspension of Russian gas deliveries to Austria’s OMV.
On the previous day E-Control energy regulator announced suspension of gas supplies from Gazprom Export for the Austrian importer OMV Marketing und Trading starting 6:00 a.m. local time on Saturday.
That said, the regulator noted that gas continued flowing to Europe via the Ukrainian territory.
On Friday, Austria’s OMV said that it had received a notification from Gazprom Export on suspension of gas supplies under the Austrian contract starting 6:00 a.m. Central European Time (8:00 a.m. Moscow time, or 5:00 a.m. GMT) on November 16 after OMV received an arbitral award under the rules of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) on a dispute with Gazprom Export, saying that it would recover awarded damages amounting to 230 mln euro for failure to supply the contracted volume of gas to Germany from the Russian company on account of payments under the agreement on supplies to Austria. Due to this OMV expected a deterioration of the contractual relationship under the Austrian supply contract with Gazprom Export, including a potential halt of gas supply.
