Amur LNG launch site to be built near facility for Angara rocket

According to the chief executive of the Center for Operation of Ground Space Infrastructure Facilities, construction may start in 2026

MOSCOW, March 27. /TASS/. An option is being reviewed to build the launch site for the Amur LNG looking-forward methane reusable rocket at the Vostochny Cosmodrome near the site for the Angara heavy rocket, chief executive of the Center for Operation of Ground Space Infrastructure Facilities Nikolay Nestechuk told TASS in an interview.

In order to reduce the timeframe and the scope of construction work, "an alternative proposal is being reviewed to locate the launch pad near the Angara-A5 launch site with partial borrowing of its infrastructure," the chief executive said. Construction may start in 2026, Nestechuk noted.

The option is still being considered for the launch site to be accommodated near the cosmodrome’s airport, he added.
