DUBAI, February 28. /TASS/. The Russian company Transneft and the Iranian Ministry of Oil signed a "memorandum of understanding on technological cooperation and implementation of joint projects," the Iranian government said in a statement on its Telegram channel.
According to the statement, the document was signed this morning by Iran’s Deputy Oil Minister for Engineering, Research and Technology Affairs Vahid-Reza Zeydifard and Transneft Vice President Vladimir Kalanda. The signing procedure took place before a meeting in Tehran of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation between the Russian Federation and Iran, chaired by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak and Iranian Oil Minister Javad Owji.
On February 23, Novak told TASS that Russian and Iranian companies are currently negotiating the creation of a gas hub in Iran and the development of gas fields. These issues will be discussed in particular at a meeting of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
In 2022, the Iranian National Oil Company and Gazprom signed a memorandum of strategic cooperation. The document involves an analysis of cooperation opportunities, including in the following areas: development of oil and gas fields in Iran, exchange operations with natural gas and petroleum products, implementation of large-scale and small-scale LNG projects, construction of main gas pipelines, scientific, technical and technological cooperation.
