Russia formulating economic mechanisms independent from West — Lavrov

Moscow is experiencing "certain complications" in view of sanctions but is overcoming them "to the astonishment of those who have been prophesying the collapse of the Russian economy, [and the] disintegration of the country"

MOSCOW, March 30. /TASS/. Russia is cooperating with its foreign partners to create economic mechanisms that are independent from the West, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview with Prensa Latina, a Cuban news agency.

"We are participating in the talks between our government ministries and their foreign partners on the creation of mechanisms that are independent from the West as well as on the delivery of goods, [including] financing and insurance," Lavrov noted.

Russia is formulating a new set of approaches to creating logistics chains, to funding and to banking transactions that will in no way be dependent "on the whims of the United States," the top diplomat said.

Moscow is experiencing "certain complications" in view of sanctions but is overcoming them "to the astonishment of those who have been prophesying the collapse of the Russian economy, [and the] disintegration of the country," he noted.

"Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly given a detailed assessment of late of those efforts being undertaken by the government and of those results that have been achieved, to the surprise of many in the West and even some experts in Russia. Our diplomacy is proactively creating the conditions for them to be as effective as possible," Lavrov concluded.
