Putin, Erdogan give orders to work on gas hub in Turkey — Kremlin

The Russian leader suggested considering creating "a separate hub on the Turkish border" so it can be used later to supply gas to those who need it

ASTANA, October 13. /TASS/. Presidents of Russia and Turkey Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan have already given instructions to work on the possibility of creating a gas hub on the territory of the country, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on the sidelines of the summit in Astana on Thursday.

"Instructions were immediately given by both presidents - right during the negotiations - to work on this issue. Various options have even been discussed," he said.

In the current situation, the only well-functioning, reliable route is the Turkish Stream, so Putin suggested considering creating "a separate hub on the Turkish border" so it can be used later to supply gas to those who need it, Peskov added.

Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller said earlier that Russia and Turkey have already agreed to quickly move on to a specific discussion of the timing of the implementation of new gas proposals from Russia, negotiations can begin as early as next week.
