Dovod cargo drones with machine vision developed in Russia

The Dovod drones use algorithms that allow them to locate points on the ground

MOSCOW, March 12. /TASS/. The Dovod line of drones, which incorporate alternative navigation capabilities in the form of machine vision, has been developed in Tula. The drones, including cargo drones, can be used for enemy engagement and logistics, the All-Russia People’s Front, whose Kulibin Club is supporting the developers, told TASS.

"The Dovod line of drones features not only manual control but also alternative navigation in the form of machine vision. While an unmanned aerial delivery vehicle, popularly known as the ‘Baba-Yaga,’ moves on its own. It flies in, drops provisions, ammunition, or something lethal on the enemy, and flies back," said Andrey Ivanov, chief designer of the Ovod drone family, which includes this system.

According to Ivanov, the Dovod drones use algorithms that allow them to locate points on the ground. "It can lock onto three hundred points at a time," the designer explained.

The People’s Front added that a large Russian private company is manufacturing the Ovod family of drones, which includes the Ovod radio-controlled drones, the Provod fiber-optic drones, the Provodnik aerial repeater, and the Dovod machine vision drones. "The company employs around 200 workers, many of whom are veterans of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine. These guys have close contact with soldiers on the front lines and can quickly adapt their products to what’s needed there. Their personal combat experience helps them customize the necessary configuration to bring us closer to victory," said a representative of the Kulibin Club.

At the "Results of the Year" conference, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted the shortage of heavy drones, emphasizing that this problem will be resolved soon.
