Russia tests latest electronic warfare system in Ukraine operation — source

The latest electronic warfare system reliably detects targets at a distance of up to 30 km and impacts them within a 5 km range

MOSCOW, July 31. /TASS/. The latest Sapfir electronic warfare system designed to shield engineering units from drone attacks during fortification works has been tested in the zone of the special military operation in Ukraine, a source in the defense industry told TASS on Monday.

"The Sapfir system has been tested in the special operation area. It was employed to shield engineering units engaged in fortification works from attacks by drones. The system proved very effective and the personnel did not leave for the area of accomplishing their objectives without it," the source said.

The Sapfir drone jamming system is employed to shield facilities from unmanned aerial vehicles of all categories. Upon detecting a target and identifying it as hostile, the Sapfir automatically establishes its category depending on the danger for the shielded facility, sends an alarm signal and jams the drone’s electronic systems.

The latest electronic warfare system reliably detects targets at a distance of up to 30 km and impacts them within a 5 km range. The Sapfir is capable of jamming ground-based drone control stations.
