Trump to visit Saudi Arabia in May — White House

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt added that members of Trump’s team are currently working out the details of his upcoming trip

WASHINGTON, April 1. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump will travel to Saudi Arabia in May, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said during a regular press briefing for reporters.

"President will be heading to Saudi Arabia in May. As for specific dates and details, we will be reading those out to you as soon as we possibly can," she said. The spokeswoman was also asked as to whether a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip or Ukraine was a pre-requisite for Trump’s visit. "As for ceasefire, the president's made it clear that's what he wants to see in Russia and Ukraine, and his team continues to be engaged on it every day," Leavitt noted.

She added that members of Trump’s team are currently working out the details of his upcoming trip.

Earlier, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told TASS that a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Trump in Saudi Arabia cannot be ruled out but so far, there are no specifics on a face-to-face meeting.

In an interview with Bloomberg, US Special Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff suggested that a bilateral US-Russian summit could take place in Saudi Arabia.
