Kiev’s claims about poisoning of spy chief’s wife just usual 'blame Russia' ploy — Kremlin

"The way I see it, Russia gets blamed even for the very existence of Ukraine. So, these are simply routine accusations," Dmitry Peskov added

MOSCOW, November 29. /TASS/. Ukraine seeks to pin the blame on Russia for virtually everything, and so Kiev’s latest accusation that Moscow had a hand in the poisoning of Marianna Budanova, wife of Ukrainian military intelligence chief Kirill Budanov, is simply par for the course, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"Ukraine seeks to blame Russia for all of its problems. The way I see it, Russia gets blamed even for the very existence of Ukraine. So, these are simply routine accusations," Peskov said when asked to comment on relevant statements by Ukrainian sources.

On Tuesday, Ukrainian news website Babel reported that Marianna Budanova had been the victim of poisoning by exposure to heavy metals. According to the news portal, Budanova was hospitalized after feeling unwell for a prolonged period of time. A probe into her attempted murder is underway, it added. Earlier, Budanov, who heads the Ukrainian Defense Ministry’s Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR), said in a media interview that his wife had been staying at his office, although she is not on the GUR staff.
