Iran vows consequences for US after Trumps’ threats of 'never-seen-before' bombing

According to Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baghaei, such statements run counter to the United Nations Charter and the safeguards under the International Atomic Energy Agency

DUBAI, March 31. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump’s threats to start bombing Iran if negotiations fail contradict the very essence of peace and security and Washington will face consequences if it embarks on this path, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said.

"An open threat of ‘bombing’ by a head of state against Iran is a shocking affront to the very essence of international peace and security. <...> Violence breeds violence, peace begets peace. The US can choose the course...; and concede to consequences," he wrote on the X social media platform.

According to Baghaei, such statements run counter to the United Nations Charter and the safeguards under the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said in a sermon on Eid Al-Fitr on Monday that he did not believe in a US military intervention but added that Washington would get a tough response if it tried to raise a revolt in Iran.

Trump said on March 30 that he planned to impose secondary tariffs on Iran in two weeks unless progress was achieved in talks on Tehran’s nuclear program. "If they don't make a deal, there will be bombing," Trump warned, adding: "It will be bombing the likes of which they have never seen before."
