CHISINAU, March 28. /TASS/. Moldovan President Maia Sandu has intensified her efforts against Gagauzia under the direction of her European Union handlers, with her next target being Transnistria, according to Andrey Safonov, a member of the unrecognized republic’s legislature. He made these comments following the Chisinau court's decision to imprison the head of the autonomy, Yevgeniya Gutsul, for 20 days.
"Sandu is in a hurry. She aims to subdue Gagauzia before moving to dismantle Transnistria ahead of Moldova's parliamentary elections," Safonov stated on his Facebook page (which is banned in Russia and owned by Meta Corporation, designated as extremist in Russia). He emphasized that the EU officials behind Gutsul's arrest and the government raid - conducted without proper documentation - have a clear objective: to eliminate Gagauzia as quickly as possible or at least to diminish its powers.
By arresting Gutsul, Sandu seeks to impose external governance in Gagauzia, paving the way for the autonomy's dissolution, after which Transnistria would be next, he claimed.
"We should anticipate gas-related provocations and attempts to stifle economic recovery, aimed at igniting social unrest. The goal is to destabilize Transnistria before the Moldovan parliamentary elections in the fall of 2025. In the most extreme scenario, there could be an orchestrated conflict along the Dniester, on orders from the Euroglobalists to Chisinau," Safonov added.
