Putin-Trump talk was 'outcome-oriented' — US envoy Witkoff

Steven Witkoff added that the Russian leader acted in good faith in relations with the US

NEW YORK, March 19. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin's telephone conversation with US leader Donald Trump was aimed at achieving results, including a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, said US special envoy Steven Witkoff.

"I thought it was epic, transformational. Those are the sorts of adjectives that I use about this call," he told Bloomberg in an interview. "The call was outcome-oriented. They were talking about how to save lives, how to stop the carnage."

Witkoff added that the Russian leader acted in good faith in relations with the US.

"He said that he was going to be operating in good faith to the president yesterday, and I take him at his word," he said.

Putin and Trump held a telephone conversation on March 18 to discuss a 30-day ceasefire in the Ukrainian conflict, conditions for preventing escalation, and some international topics. The Russian leader agreed with the White House proposal about mutual refusal of the parties to the conflict in Ukraine from attacks on energy infrastructure.
