Hamas implemented ceasefire in Gaza till last moment — statement

It is reported that the Palestinian movement announced that it considers the US "an accomplice to the Israeli aggression," as it was informed of Israel's plans to resume hostilities in Gaza

CAIRO, March 18. /TASS/. The Palestinian Hamas movement complied with the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip "until the last moment" and never intended to attack Israeli servicemen, the group said in a statement.

"Until the last moment, Hamas abided by the ceasefire agreement and wanted it to remain in force. However, [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu decided to resume the war. The statements that Hamas was allegedly preparing attacks on Israeli servicemen do not correspond to reality; they are just an excuse to resume hostilities," the movement pointed out. According to Hamas, "it was Israel that decided to abandon the ceasefire agreement" in Gaza.

In addition, the Palestinian movement announced that it considers the US "an accomplice to the Israeli aggression," as it was informed of Israel's plans to resume hostilities in Gaza. The radicals also accused the US of lying in light of Washington's previous statements about its commitment to the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in the Palestinian enclave.

On March 18, the IDF conducted large-scale strikes against Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip, while Axios journalist Barak Ravid wrote on his X page, citing the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, that Israel had resumed military operations against the Palestinian movement in the enclave.

According to the latest Al Arabiya TV channel report, the death toll has reached 356, while 1,000 people were injured. About half of the dead were victims of an airstrike on Gaza City, the TV channel reported.
