Not everyone crazed in EU with anti-Russian hysteria, Slovakian lawmaker says

Lubos Blaha stressed that even simple conversations with Russians caused disputes and hatred in the EU, so coming to Russia was a kind of courage

MOSCOW, March 11. /TASS/. Not all EU countries have succumbed to anti-Russian hysteria, there are those in Europe who understand the importance of dialogue with Russia, Member of the European Parliament from Slovakia, Lubos Blaha asserted in an interview with TASS.

Earlier, Blaha received an official invitation to visit Russia from the chairman of the Russian State Duma (lower house of parliament) international committee Leonid Slutsky. He noted that he was very happy to take advantage of this opportunity and discuss issues with Russian politicians.

"You know, in the European Parliament sometimes there is not of big intellectual quality but when I was talking with Mr. Slutsky, [CPRF leader Gennady] Mr. Zyuganov, [Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Grigory] Mr. Karasin, [Head of the Foreign Intelligence Service Sergey] Mr. Naryshkin it was intellectual interesting we were talking even about [writer Fedor] Dostoevsky, even about Karl Marx, about intellectual issue. So, I am really happy to be here and to send the message to Russian society in the Russian population that not everybody in the European Union is insane and that we want to have good relations with Russia and especially with Slovaks. We really respect Russian nation and we thank you for the liberation in the Second World War," he said.

The parliament speaker added that even simple conversations with Russians cause disputes and hatred in the EU, so coming to Russia is a kind of courage.

"I'm just disgusted with this atmosphere in the European Parliament and I think that we need to first of all negotiate with the Russians but also we need to pay respect. It was the Russian especially the Russian nation together with other Soviet nations who liberated us from the fascism in the Second World War and I cannot say that I am not going to talk with the Russians. You are my friends, I mean Russian is a friend of Slovakia. I feel it like this and when I see this hatred in the European Parliament I can compare it only to fascism in 30s and 40s, it was the same in the Hitler times against Soviet Union and Russians and Slavic nations," he noted.
