Iran doesn’t rule out talks on its nuclear program — UN mission

Tehran will never discuss its total dismantlement, Iran’s mission to the United Nations said

UNITED NATIONS, March 9. /TASS/. Tehran may engage in negotiations on its nuclear program if discussions are focused only on issue of its potential militarization but will never discuss its total dismantlement, Iran’s mission to the United Nations said.

"If the objective of negotiations is to address concerns vis-a-vis any potential militarization of Iran’s nuclear program, such discussions may be subject to consideration. However, should the aim be the dismantlement of Iran’s peaceful nuclear program to claim that what [US 44th President Barack] Obama failed to achieve has now been accomplished, such negotiations will never take place," it wrote on its X page.

US President Donald Trump announced his proposal about the talks on the Iranian nucelar program in a Truth Social post on Friday, saying he sent Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei a message. Commenting on this letter, Khamenei rejected talks with the US, saying that Washington doesn’t really care about resolving problems but is focused on its own interests.
