WASHNGTON, March 3. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump will hold a meeting on next steps regarding the Ukrainian conflict later in the day, including on the possibility of freezing US military aid to the Kiev government, the Axios portal said citing own sources.
Along with Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, National security adviser Mike Waltz and other senior officials are expected to participate.
The White House refrained from commenting on the subject, the portal wrote.
Previously, The New York Times wrote that Trump would meet with his national security team on March 3 to discuss and, possibly, take measures with regard to Ukraine. According to the report, possible US steps include freeze or cancellation of US military aid to Kiev.
On February 28, Zelensky arrived at the White House for a meeting with US President Donald Trump. During their conversation, which took place in the presence of journalists, a heated exchange erupted. Trump criticized Zelensky for his perceived disrespect toward the United States, while Vice President JD Vance pointed out that Zelensky had neglected to thank Washington for its support of Kiev. Consequently, the press conference following their meeting was canceled, and the signing of a minerals agreement between Ukraine and the United States did not occur. Trump later took to the social media platform Truth Social to emphasize that Zelensky had demonstrated both disrespect and a lack of preparedness for a peace resolution to the Ukrainian conflict.
On March 2, Bloomberg reported, citing a source in the EU leadership, that the US presidential administration had privately made it clear to its European partners that it wanted a public apology from Zelensky for his behavior at the White House. According to the British media, no such apology was made in a conversation with journalists at Stansted airport.
