BEIRUT, February 25. /TASS/. Syria has entered the period of rebuilding a new state following a prolonged war and devastation and is encountering numerous challenges along the way, Ahmed al-Sharaa, Syria’s president during the transitional period, said during the National Dialogue Conference that kicked off in Damascus.
"We are experiencing an important stage in our history so we must be patient," the interim president said. "Preserving civic peace is now the duty of all Syrian citizens," he emphasized.
Al-Sharaa has urged for firm counteraction to all attempts to undermine the country’s unity and internal stability. "We will stand against anyone who infringes on the Syrian people’s security and achievements," he noted. "Syria is calling on all of you to unite and cooperate in order to heal it, mend the wounds and ensure prosperity," Al-Sharaa added.
The forum, that kicked off on Monday, is attended by over 600 delegates representing the country’s various regions. Hassan al-Daghim, spokesperson for the committee organizing the conference, said that the forum will develop "proposals which will help shape the constitutional declaration and establish the basic principles of the new governing regime in Syria."
According to him, the participants will discuss "the transitional justice system, the new economic structure and the plan of administrative reform."
