WASHINGTON, February 21. /TASS/. US Vice President JD Vance’s criticism of Vladimir Zelensky is "a not-so-veiled threat to walk away from Ukraine," the Axios portal said, citing US administration officials.
Commenting on Kiev’s refusal to sign a rare earths deal and its unwillingness to hold a presidential election, Vance advised Zelensky not to engage in a war of words with Trump via the media, saying that this is not the best way to deal with the US president.
Relations between the United States and Ukraine have strained after Trump called Zelensky a dictator and accused him of derailing a rare earths deal. Zelensky, in turn, said that Trump has been bitten by "Russian disinformation.".
