Israel, US agree that Iran must not have nuclear weapons — Netanyahu

According to Netanyahu, Israel has dealt a "mighty blow" to Iran over the past 16 months

TEL AVIV, February 16. /TASS/. Israel and the United States share the position that there must not be any nuclear weapons in Iran, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said.

Speaking at a news conference after talks with visiting US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the Israeli prime minister said that they had held a "very productive discussion" on a number of matters, "none more important than Iran".

"Israel and America stand shoulder to shoulder in countering the threat of Iran," he said. "We agreed that the ayatollahs must not have nuclear weapons and also agreed that Iran's aggression in the region must be rolled back."

According to Netanyahu, Israel has dealt a "mighty blow" to Iran over the past 16 months. "I have no doubt we can and will finish the job" with the support of US President Donald Trump, he added.
