ISTANBUL, February 14. /TASS/. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan says US President Donald Trump's plan to forcibly relocate residents of the Gaza Strip is unacceptable.
"The expulsion of the Palestinian people from Gaza is unacceptable. It is a plan that no Muslim country will accept, as it ignores the rights of the people of Gaza and Palestine. This approach is not conducive to achieving long-term, lasting peace; on the contrary, it fuels conflict. If the international community is guided by political calculations instead of respecting human rights and providing humanitarian aid, it will further deepen the crisis in the region," the Turkish leader told his pool reporters upon his return from a tour of Asia. Anadolu Agency quoted his remarks.
"All wounds [in Gaza] can only be healed by recognizing the existence of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders. Real peace can only be achieved by ensuring mutual recognition of rights, equality, and justice. We will support any peace strategy based on this foundation," Erdogan said.
