TEL AVIV, February 13. /TASS/. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and law enforcement agencies have continued large-scale counterterrorist operations in the West Bank, detaining more than 90 Palestinian radicals over the past week, the army press service said.
"During the week, security forces operated throughout Judea and Samaria (the West Bank - TASS) to thwart terrorist activity. The forces apprehended over 90 terrorists, dismantled dozens of explosives, questioned hundreds of individuals suspected of terrorist activity, and confiscated 12 weapons and approximately 50 illegal vehicles," it said in a statement.
Among other things, in the morning of February 13, "during the counterterrorism operation in northern Samaria, soldiers of the Egoz Unit located a rigged vehicle and dismantled it," the press service noted.
Overall, since the onset of the large-scale counterterrorist operation in the West Bank’s north, over 210 wanted individuals have been detained, more than 60 Palestinian radicals have been eliminated, and 85 units of weapons have been confiscated, the army press service reported.
On January 21, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the launch of a large-scale counterterrorist operation in the vicinity of the West Bank city of Jenin dubbed "Iron Wall." He stated that the operation aims to "defeat terrorism in Jenin," where radical Palestinian groups are active, and to bolster security in that general area.
