Ukrainian Defense Ministry announces recruiting men aged 18-24 for contract service

MOSCOW, February 12. /TASS/. The Ukrainian Defense Ministry has announced the start of recruitment of men aged 18-24 for contract service, according to a statement published on the website of the ministry.

"The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine today officially launched the project Contract 18-24," the statement said. The contract for the amount of 1 mln hryvnia (around $24,000) is concluded for 1 year. In addition, a monthly salary of up to 120,000 hryvnia ($2,900) was promised. The Ministry of Defense claimed that at the end of the contract a deferment from mobilization for 12 months will be granted.

Recently, the issue of lowering the age of mobilization to 18 has been increasingly raised in Ukraine, as the United States insists on it. At the same time, the Ukrainian army continues to experience a shortage of personnel.
