New US administration gets rid of ‘woke’ ideas, Trump says

According to the US President, Republicans have been able to do that despite "the Democratic Party stealing hundreds of millions of dollars to promote woke," often seen by supporters of traditional values as propaganda of non-traditional sexual orientation and exaggerated political correctness

WASHINGTON, February 6. /TASS/. The new US administration has put an end to the "woke" liberal ideas that were promoted by previous President Joe Biden’s close circle, current President Donald Trump said.

"I don't know if you've been watching, but we got rid of woke over the last two weeks," he said at the National Prayer Breakfast at the Washington Hilton hotel in the US capital.

According to Trump, Republicans have been able to do that despite "the other side (the Democratic Party - TASS) stealing hundreds of millions of dollars to promote woke," often seen by conservative circles and supporters of traditional values primarily as propaganda of non-traditional sexual orientation and exaggerated political correctness.

The US president also mentioned the issue of Politico receiving funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). According to Trump, "hundreds of millions of dollars of money was fraudulently given to newspapers."

Entrepreneur Elon Musk, who heads the Department of Government Efficiency, (DOGE), said earlier that government agencies would no longer pay for subscriptions to Politico, the New York Times and the Associated Press.

The National Prayer Breakfast is an annual event that the US Congress and the Fellowship Foundation religious organization hold in Washington in early February.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt specified on Wednesday that the US government would cancel $8 mln worth of Politico subscriptions. She pointed out that Politico was in fact funded by taxpayer money and the "DOGE team is working on canceling those payments now." Musk’s agency has also begun to review US federal agencies’ spending on other media subscriptions.
