BERLIN, February 6. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump's idea to relocate Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to other countries in the region is inhumane, Bundestag (the German parliament) member Sevim Dagdelen stated.
"US President Donald Trump's plan to expel the Palestinians and ethnically cleanse the Gaza Strip is a crime against humanity that must be unequivocally condemned. Palestinians finally need their own state that can control and protect its borders and the territory of which will not be further annexed and colonized," the member of the Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance - Reason and Justice wrote in an article for the Overton Magazin news outlet.
On February 4, Trump said at a joint news conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, following their talks at the White House, that the US was considering long-term ownership of the Gaza Strip in order to develop it for the sake of peace in the Middle East. Also, he proposed resettling Palestinians from the enclave to other countries in the region, which he said could pay for it. Trump also indicated that the US is ready to send its troops to Gaza if necessary.
