STOCKHOLM, February 4. /TASS/. Several people have been killed and about 15 wounded in a shooting near a school in the town of Orebro in central Sweden, the SVT TV channel reported, citing sources.
At a press conference, the police said that one of those with gunshot wounds may be the shooter. "One of the injured persons is a person whom we suspect may be the assailant," Orebro police chief Roberto Eid Forest explained.
The police do not yet know the shooter’s motive and are clarifying as to whether this person has ties to organized crime. The age of those injured has not yet been disclosed.
According to Jonas Claesson, Orebro County’s regional healthcare director, five people have been taken to Orebro University Hospital. Four of them underwent surgeries with two of them in stable condition. Another individual has not sustained any particularly serious injuries.
The incident occurred in a facility offering courses for adults. The police evacuated nearby schools and a restaurant.
