Palestine Red Crescent loses 26 members since escalation in Gaza began

The agency said that 15 of them were targeted by the occupation while performing their humanitarian duties and wearing the protected Red Crescent emblem

DUBAI, March 30. /TASS/. The Palestine Red Crescent Society has reported 26 of its staffers killed since the onset of the conflict between Israel and Palestine last October in a statement on the X social network.

"Since the beginning of the war on #Gaza, we have lost 26 members of our teams, including 15 who were targeted by the occupation while performing their humanitarian duties and wearing the protected Red Crescent emblem," the agency said.

Earlier, it reported that overall, 364 medical workers have been killed in the region since October.

Tensions flared up again in the Middle East on October 7, 2023, when militants from the Gaza-based Palestinian radical group Hamas staged a surprise incursion into Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip. Hamas described its attack as a response to the aggressive actions of Israeli authorities against the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem’s Old City. In response, Israel has declared a state of war readiness; announced a total blockade of the Gaza Strip, home to 2.3 million Palestinians; and began delivering air strikes on the enclave and certain parts of Lebanon and Syria, followed by a ground operation in the enclave. Clashes are underway in the West Bank as well.
