Moscow reiterated its position "in favor of de-escalating tensions and ending violence, as well as the soonest beginning of the negotiating process in the interests of a fair settlement of the Palestinian problem in line with the United Nations and its Security Council resolutions," the ministry added

"The international community led by the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation must make efforts within all platforms to protect the status of religious holy sites," the Turkish leader emphasized

The foreign minister pointed out that the Quartet has not been convened for some time and its meetings are being blocked by the United States

The ministry said that without a clear, "comprehensive solution to this long-standing problem," relapses of violent confrontation are inevitable

According to Sergey Lavrov, Russia "reiterates the need to return to the fundamental UN decisions on the principles on which direct dialogue between Palestinians and Israelis should take place in the format of the so-called two-state solution"
