US-led coalition’s aircraft violated Syrian airspace six times in past day

According to the deputy chief of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties in Syria Vadim Kulit, such actions create dangerous precedents for air accidents or incidents

MOSCOW, November 23. /TASS/. Aircraft of the US-led international coalition in Syria violated the country’s airspace six times over the past 24 hours, the deputy chief of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties in Syria (a division of the Russian defense ministry) said on Thursday.

"A total of six violations, committed one pair of F-16 fighter jets, one pair of Rafale fighters and one pair of Typhoon fighters were registered in the al-Tanf area," Rear Adm. Vadim Kulit said.

He added that one violation of the December 9, 2019 deconfliction protocols on the part of the coalition was registered over the past 24 hours. The incident was related to a flight of a UAV that was not coordinated with the Russian side.

In his words, such actions create dangerous precedents for air accidents or incidents and escalate the general situation in Syria’s airspace.

In a separate development, three shelling attacks targeting Syria’s pro-government forces were committed by the Jabhat al-Nusra and the Islamic Party of Turkestan terrorist groups (both outlawed in Russia) in the province of Idlib.
