Canada imposes sanctions on another nine Russian individuals, six entities

The entity list includes the Izvestia and Parlamentskaya Gazeta newspapers, REN-TV, the Russia Beyond project funded by the Rossiyskaya Gazeta daily, the Institute of State and Law of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Center for Socio-Conservative Politics non-commercial partnership

OTTAWA, November 11. /TASS/. Ottawa has blacklisted another nine Russian individuals and six entities, according to a statement published on the website of the Canadian Department of Global Affairs.

"Melanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced that Canada is imposing new sanctions against 9 individuals and 6 entities under the Special Economic Measures (Russia) Regulations," the statement reads.

The entity list includes the Izvestia and Parlamentskaya Gazeta newspapers, REN-TV, the Russia Beyond project funded by the Rossiyskaya Gazeta daily, the Institute of State and Law of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Center for Socio-Conservative Politics non-commercial partnership.

The blacklisted individuals particularly include singer Jasmin, President of the Russian International Affairs Council Igor Ivanov, Scientific Director of the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Institute of World History Alexander Chubaryan, Advisor to the Russian Defense Minister Andrey Ilnitsky, Deputy Director of the Higher School of Economics’ Center for Comprehensive European and International Studies Dmitry Suslov, head of the Institute of International Studies at MGIMO University Andrey Sushentsov, Valdai Club Program Director Oleg Barabnov, MGIMO Associate Professor Ivan Timofeev and Moscow State University Associate Professor Alexander Konkov.

The sanctions are said to have been imposed for the individuals’ role in "disinformation and war propaganda."

According to the statement, "since 2014, Canada has imposed sanctions on more than 2,700 individuals and entities in Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and Moldova.".
