UNITED NATIONS, November 16. /TASS/. UN chief Antonio Guterres urged efforts to avoid an escalation in Ukraine after a missile explosion in Poland, the office of the Secretary-General said on Tuesday.

"The Secretary-General is very concerned by the reports of a missile exploding on Polish territory. It is absolutely essential to avoid escalating the war in Ukraine. He sends his condolences to the families of the victims. He hopes that a thorough investigation will be conducted," Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesman for the Secretary-General, said in a statement.
