NATO chief calls on Lukashenko to stop involving Belarus in conflict in Ukraine

BRUSSELS, October 12. /TASS/. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Wednesday urged Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko to stop dragging Belarus into the conflict in Ukraine.

The NATO chief said he expected that "the Lukashenko regime will stop being complicit to" this conflict. Also, he said, the alliance has seen how "Belarus has been used as a staging area for <…> air strikes against Ukraine."

"We have seen how Belarus has been used as a staging area for missile launches, air strikes against Ukraine. And President Lukashenko should stop helping and supporting Russian war efforts," Stoltenberg added.

On Monday, Lukashenko said the leadership of NATO and some European countries was mulling options to carry out aggression against Belarus, up to conducting a nuclear attack. He said Minsk and Moscow were beginning to deploy a joint regional group of forces amid escalations on the western borders of the Union State.
