Hainan will create transport network 42 thousand kilometers long by 2025

The highways will allow to reach any part of the island in three hours

HAIKOU /China/, August 8. /TASS/. The South Chinese province of Hainan intends to create a transportation network by 2025, which would allow to reach any part of the island within three hours. The Sanya Daily newspaper reported this with reference to a document on the development of the transport sector in the province in the period of the 14th Five-Year Plan.

The total length of highways in Hainan will reach 42 thousand kilometers by the planned date. The transportation network should make it possible to drive between county administrative centers in 10 minutes.

Hainan is also implementing a major project to build a highway for tourists around the island, which should be ready by 2023. The total length of the road will be about 1 thousand kilometers. It will pass through 12 cities and counties in such provinces as Haikou, Sanya, Wenchang and Qionghai.

The route will run along all of the island's main sights, including bays and harbors, mountain ranges, national parks, and economic development zones. The total length of its uninterrupted section will be about 442 km.

The project is one of the key components of the province's free trade port program. The road should become a landmark of Hainan. The authorities expect that the implementation of the project will play an important role in the development of tourism on the island.
