Ukrainian conscripts who gave up in Kherson ask to stay

The two servicemen who surrendered announced that they would like to receive Russian citizenship

KHERSON, June 21. /TASS/. Ukrainian servicemen who gave up to Russian troops in Kherson on Tuesday ask not to exchange them as they don’t want to return to Kiev-controlled territories, a TASS correspondent reported from the scene.

The two servicemen who surrendered, Ivan Boiko from Poltava and Alexey Nevzglyadov from Kiev, announced that they would like to stay in Kherson and receive Russian citizenship. "We don’t want to be exchanged, we want to stay. We want to live peacefully, get citizenship, help the Russian Federation fight <...>. Because the Ukrainian authorities often tell us lies and disseminate information we simply do not need," Boiko said.

The surrendered servicemen said that they were stationed at Skadovsk. In February, while evacuating to Kiev, their convoy was defeated. Boiko and Nevzglyadov hid in the Kherson Region villages, but later decided to voluntarily lay down their arms.

"I see a colossal difference between the two armies. I think that Ukraine has very few chances compared to the Russian Federation," Nevzglyadov pointed out.

According to the serviceman, Kiev tried to recruit him to join Nazi units.
