The meeting also discussed the details of probes into the crimes committed against Mariupol residents, the Investigative Committee reported

MOSCOW, April 7. /TASS/. Russian investigators have charged four Ukrainian military commanders in absentia with bombardments of civilians in Donbass, the Investigative Committee press office reported, following a meeting that Russia’s Investigative Chief Alexander Bastrykin held in Donetsk on Thursday.

"As of today, the investigators have data on 59 military units and their affiliation with particular armed services and their stationing. They have identified four new commanders of the Ukrainian armed forces complicit in the bombardments of civilians in 2018, 2020 and 2021: commander of the 25th Ukrainian separate air assault brigade O.V. Zenchenko, commander of the 56th separate mechanized infantry brigade I.V. Ivanov, commander of the 79th separate air assault brigade A.D. Lutsenko and commander of the 59th separate mechanized infantry brigade G.M. Shapovalov. These individuals have been indicted in absentia," the statement says.

The meeting also discussed the details of probes into the crimes committed against Mariupol residents, the Investigative Committee reported.

"They include hostage taking, tortures, bombardments of humanitarian corridors and the use of civilians as a human shield," the Investigative Committee specified.
