Russian biathletes grab gold in men’s relay event at IBU World Cup in Oberhof

MOSCOW, January 13. /TASS/. /TASS/. Russian biathletes Maxim Tsvetkov, Evgeniy Garanichev, Dmitry Malyshko and Alexander Loginov on Sunday won gold in men 4x7.5km relay competition at the IBU World Cup in Germany’s Oberhof.

The Russian team finished in one hour, 20 minutes and 54.3 seconds with six extra shots, being one minute and 1.1 seconds ahead of the French team (1+8). Austrian biathletes finished third (+2,18.6; 1+7).

Russia’s previous gold in this discipline was taken in 2016 when Tsvetkov, Garanichev, Malysko and Anton Shipulin won 4x7.5 relay competition at the IBU World Cup in Italy’s Anterselva.

Earlier in the day, Russia’s Evgeniya Pavlova, Margarita Vasileva, Larisa Kuklina and Ekaterina Yurlova-Percht grabbed gold in women 4x6 km relay competition, for the first time since 2012.

The next IBU World Cup event will take place in Germany’s Ruhpolding from January 16 to 20.
