MOSCOW, May 24. /TASS/. French opera singer Joachim Coffinier-Barry, who won the eighth Road to Yalta international music contest festival, told TASS in an interview that he wants to remain leaving in Russia and acquire the Russian citizenship.
"Yes, I plan to stay in Russia, to live here, to create a family, to marry a Russian girl and to raise children - a big family, with any luck," he said. "I do love Russia and feel happy here."
The French artist stated that his family members opposed his choice, while his "heart" prompted him to make such a decision.
Wrong Turn
According to the singer, many French people realize that Russia is the "true stronghold of traditional values," but their homeland "took the turn in the wrong direction."
"Many people realize this: the French are traditionalists, conservative Christians, Catholics and representatives of other religions," he said in an interview with TASS. "They do realize that France is moving in the wrong direction and that to deny their beliefs is to remain in a country that supports abortion, euthanasia, and therefore human sacrifice, child sacrifice."
In this regard, Coffinier-Barry pointed out that despite the love for his country, he can no longer stay there, because he does not want to be "involved in the murder of people who are being committed to pay taxes," because first of all he is "God’s child."
"I refuse to live in the country, where, in my opinion, they profess openly Satanic values [Satanic movement is outlawed as an extremist one in Russia]," the French opera singer explained. "We all witnessed all of this at the [Opening Ceremony of] Olympic Games in Paris. Such things are completely contrary to my beliefs."
"It is indeed possible to still live in France, but now the price is too high," he noted.
French heart with Russian soul
Coffinier-Barry carried on by saying that he had many events planned on his schedule in Russia.
"There will be a concert at the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Hall in June. I was the conductor at a concert in Makhachkala, and I often conduct in Italy and other countries," he pointed out.
"I am glad that I am able to perform now more Russian folk music and military songs, which are very close to me," Coffinier-Barry stated. "Thanks to the Road to Yalta [music festival], I will have more opportunities to be developing this character of my personality."
The international music contest
The 8th ‘Road to Yalta’ International Music Festival was hosted by the Russian capital of Moscow on April 24-28. The participants in the project represented 15 countries and performed songs about the Great Patriotic War in different languages.
French entrant Coffinier-Barry won that contest, performing the song "All is Frozen till Dawn" in duo with Russia’s Yaroslav Sumishevsky.
