145 members of Ukraine’s Azov regiment banned in Russia convicted — top investigator

According to Alexander Bastrykin, the investigation has concluded 423 criminal cases against 566 Ukrainian servicemen and mercenaries involved in the use of prohibited means and methods of warfare, cruel treatment of prisoners of war and civilians, as well as committing murders and damaging property

MOSCOW, March 3. /TASS/. More than 140 members of Ukraine’s Azov nationalist regiment (a terrorist organization banned in Russia) have been sentenced for crimes against civilians in Donbass, Russian Investigative Committee Chairman Alexander Bastrykin said in an interview with TASS.

"A total of 519 people have been sentenced, among them 145 members of the banned Azov regiment," he said.

According to Bastrykin, the investigation has concluded 423 criminal cases against 566 Ukrainian servicemen and mercenaries involved in the use of prohibited means and methods of warfare, cruel treatment of prisoners of war and civilians, as well as committing murders and damaging property. Among those convicted of these crimes, 62 were sentenced to life imprisonment.
