G20 states acknowledge importance to counter disinformation campaigns

BALI /Indonesia/, November 16. /TASS/. The countries of the Group of Twenty (G20) acknowledge the importance to counter disinformation campaigns and cyber threats, according to the declaration by the group’s leaders approved on Wednesday following the Bali-hosted summit.

"We acknowledge the importance to counter disinformation campaigns, cyber threats, online abuse, and ensuring security in connectivity infrastructure," the document reads.

G20 nations "remain committed to further enable data free flow with trust and promote cross-border data flows," according to the declaration.

The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the transformation of the digital ecosystem and digital economy, G20 members believe. "We recognize the importance of digital transformation in reaching the SDGs. 9 We acknowledge that affordable and high-quality digital connectivity is essential for digital inclusion and digital transformation, while a resilient, safe and secure online environment is necessary to enhance confidence and trust in the digital economy," the declaration stated.
